Description
An absolutely stunning end table by Makerspace member Ryan Wetley. Wetley created this end table by using a cross-sectional piece of hollowed core cherry wood and epoxy. To watch him bring this piece to life over months was a true treat.
He started by meticulously clearing every worm trail of dust and debris, then created a rectangular mold for the table shape. An initial sealing epoxy was painted around the piece to be sure it was solid and airtight, then a deep pour was layered into the mold over the course of a week. After demolding, weeks of effort were put into bring the surface to an ultra smooth polished finish using diamond grit polish.
And that’s just the top! Gently tapered legs, a skirt accented with black epoxy, and a floating top mount take this end table to another level of sophistication. It has what seems like the perfect blend of modern style with inspirations from nature; you can see art not only in the beauty of the natural wood but also in the way the artist elevated its presence.
