Makerspace Memberships

Our mission is to support your passion for making beautiful things from wood.

Here’s how we do it:

Leveled Memberships

Grand Inspired Maker Space is a members-only woodworking shop, open to all –
those just learning and those at the top of their craft. Two membership levels are offered:

  • Single Hobbyist: The single hobbyist membership is for 1 person. Membership fee is $50/mo or $510/12mo.
  • Family: The family membership is for 2 people living in the same household or who are related. Membership fee is $85/mo or $865/12mo.
  • There is a one-time new member set-up fee of $50 for both Hobbyist & Professional memberships.

Comfortable Working Space

Let’s face it, there’s nothing better than the smell and sight of fresh cut wood, but. . . the process to make it can be a bit dirty and noisy. We provide:

  • Temperature & humidity controlled environment
  • Well-lit workspace with natural light & portable supplemental lighting
  • Dust-collection and air purifier systems
  • Designated finishing area
  • Sound absorbing materials on walls, floors, ceiling

Awesome equipment & tools

With our skilled on-site staff, the equipment stays well-maintained and
ready for use. Here’s a list of some of our equipment:

  • SawStop 3hp Table Saw
  • 20” Helical Head Planer
  • 18” Bandsaw
  • 22/44 Drum Sander
  • Slab Flattening Mill – Router Gantry System
  • Next Wave Shark CNC Engraver/Cutter
  • Grizzly 42” Lathe
  • Lots more!

Opportunities for learning & teaching

Grand Inspired provides multiple venues for you to learn about
equipment and techniques. Weekly hands-on instruction is provided free of charge for members to learn how to safely use power equipment and develop woodworking skills. Individual consults are available during various hours with an experienced woodworker and staff are available during the day to support member’s use of equipment.

Grand Inspired staff are available during pre-posted hours to answer questions. And all Maker Space
members are friendly, helpful people too! (Yes, of course it is a membership requirement to be nice!)

Have a skill and want to share it with others? Members have the opportunity to provide classes that are open to the community. (Members can also take skill-building classes at reduced cost.) Whether it’s an advanced joinery technique, working with resins, turning a live-edge bowl or walking novices through the steps to make a garden bench, sharing your talents is a great way to meet like-minded people and earn some extra cash! Wonder if you can develop and teach a class? You can! We’ve got you covered with class-teaching jigs and we take care of marketing and sign-ups.

Access & Storage

  • Access from 5am until midnight 365 days a year.
  • Garage door directly into makerspace for easy loading and unloading.
  • Every member is issued a bin for storing small personal items & tools at the shop.
  • One in-progress piece and wood may be stored at the shop for up to 30 days in designated spaces.

Selling in the Gallery

Grand Inspired is always looking for awesome things to offer in our gallery. And customers love to find items that are made here. If you are interested in making items to sell, please connect with Darren or Joanne. There is no minimum/maximum number of items that you need to produce to try it out.

Ground Rules

Grand Inspired Maker Space strives to make your woodworking experience the very best it can be.
We’ll set the stage to make that happen; we need just a few things from you. Here they are:

Follow all safety rules.

You DO NOT want to hear Joanne’s teacher voice. Seriously, anyone can be badly hurt on power equipment whether you are a beginner or a seasoned woodworker. Yet, there are many people who have never experienced even a pinky cut because they treat power equipment with the respect it deserves: they know how to work safely and religiously follow safety practices. Members will be expected to know and follow safety practices. And yes, there will be a quiz. Every member must pass a safety orientation and demonstrate how to properly operate equipment before your access fob will be turned on. Safety rules will be posted in the shop and are expected to be followed at all times.

Will we be super picky about safety? Yes. A safe environment ensures the future of Grand Inspired Woodworkers Makerspace for everyone.

Be Nice.

You thought we were joking when we said it’s a membership requirement? Nope. You don’t have to be a social butterfly, but everyone is expected to treat every other member and guest in Grand Inspired respectfully and courteously. Woodworkers are some of the best people we know; still, when multiple people share a space there are bound to be some annoyances. Working agreements will be posted in the shop along with what to do if someone continually breaks the working agreements.

Will we be super picky about treating each other nicely? Yes. Everyone who pays for a membership or visits Grand Inspired should feel welcome.

Egregious disregard for safety & courtesy expectations will result in suspension of membership.

Clean up after yourself and put things away when you are done using them.

Be Inspired and Enjoy!
