Live-edge has never looked so sleek. Paul Konopacki created this set of two end tables and coffee table from a single continuous slab of walnut. By doing this, one can see the continuation of the grain patterns from piece to piece, making pieces feel connected across the room in which they are laid. The deep walnut coloration can provide beautiful contrast to more lightly colored rooms or an earthy compliment to deep blue, gray, or even black backgrounds.

Dovetail joints hold together the drawers in each of the matching end tables and are a feature respected by woodworkers worldwide and admired for their beauty. Details like these take something outwardly beautiful and turn it into a piece that is even more beautiful on closer inspection. There is something so satisfying about having your expectations exceeded and these pieces by Konopacki certainly do so.

The coffee table is the perfect central piece, holding the eye with its intense amount of intricate figuring. The section of the slab used for the table top came from the Y-shaped crotch of the tree, where wood twists and compresses on itself to form unpredictable and absolutely unique wave-like patterns in the surface.
