Discover the art of crafting your very own decorative wooden paddle in this hands-on, two-session workshop! Whether you’re a seasoned woodworker or a complete beginner, this class will guide you through the process of creating a stunning paddle that creates a beautiful display for you home or cabin.

Each paddle is crafted from a combination of high-quality woods, offering a variety of natural tones and grains. The finished paddles are approximately 4-5 feet in length and feature a classic blade shape, ideal for both aesthetic appeal while keeping the traditional paddling design. In addition to woodworking, participants will have the option to personalize their paddles with painted designs, wood-burned patterns, or other creative embellishments.

• Session 1: Begin your paddle-making journey by selecting and assembling the wood for your paddle. You’ll learn essential techniques for gluing and clamping the pieces together to form a strong, cohesive base. Instructors will also discuss paddle anatomy, including the handle, shaft, and blade, to help you understand its structure.
• Session 2: Dive into shaping and finishing your paddle. Using a variety of tools, you’ll refine the blade and handle to achieve smooth curves and edges. You’ll also sand the surface to prepare it for finishing. During this session, you’ll learn about different finishing techniques, including oiling or sealing, to protect the wood and enhance its natural beauty.

If you’re feeling creative, you’re encouraged to stay longer during the second session to add a personal touch. Use paints to create colorful, eye-catching designs or wood-burning tools to etch intricate patterns or meaningful symbols into your paddle. The result will be a truly one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your unique style.

This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore woodworking, create a special keepsake, or craft a thoughtful gift. All materials, tools, and protective gear will be provided. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a beautiful decorative paddle and a new appreciation for woodworking craftsmanship.
