Beginning Woodworking Class: Sofa Tray Table Workshop (2 Days)
Looking for a great way to get started in woodworking? This beginning woodworking class will guide you through building a beautiful and practical sofa tray table designed to slide neatly under your couch, bringing a convenient surface right where you need it for drinks, snacks, books, or a laptop.
Over two full-day class sessions, participants will learn the fundamentals of woodworking while creating a finished piece of furniture. You’ll transform rough hardwood into a functional design by shaping the distinctive angled base, crafting the tray-style top, and assembling the parts so the table is both sturdy and elegant.
Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience with core woodworking skills including milling lumber, layout, safe machine use, shaping, sanding, and finishing. Our instructors will guide you step by step, making this class ideal for beginners who want to build confidence in the shop.
Students can choose from a selection of hardwoods to create a table that reflects their own style. Whether you prefer bold contrasting woods, subtle grain patterns, or a dramatic feature board, each table will be completely unique.
By the end of the second session, you’ll head home with a finished sofa tray table and a solid introduction to woodworking skills you can build on in future projects.
No prior woodworking experience is necessary. All materials, tools, and instruction are included.
