Jan Jahnke uses subtle screen printed feathers that are decoupaged in layers to create a rich textured surface in Spirit Shield #54.

Description

“The day is done and darkness falls from the wings of night, as a feather is wafted downward from an eagle in his flight”    ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Jan Jahnke uses subtle screen printed feathers that are decoupaged in layers to create a rich textured surface in Spirit Shield #54.  Found objects and recycled materials are often included in Jan’s work to add traces of the human connection to nature.   Lake Michigan drift wood serves as the perching place for a metal bird image to bring a quiet presence and completeness to the piece.
